Healthcare

Beard has delivered many new build and refurbishment projects for the National Health Service, private healthcare companies and medical charities.

These have included health centres, hospital extensions, MRI suites and scientific research laboratories.

We have also built care homes for the elderly, community centres and accommodation for the homeless.

Beard works closely with designers and consultants who also have specialist knowledge and experience of creating clinical environments. We also have a trusted network of suppliers and subcontractors who specialise in working with the healthcare sector. So whether we are installing a complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure or timing all building works to conincide with the delivery of a state-of-the-art scanner, Beard has the experience and resources to provide an appropriate solution.

One such project was for a new diagnostic imaging centre for the Cobalt Unit Appeal Fund in Cheltenham, which supplements and enhances National Health Service facilities for the prevention, detection and treatment of malignant diseases.

Beard tendered for and then built a new two-storey building providing 930 square metres of accommodation, including three scanning rooms, consultation rooms, reception and waiting areas, and ancillary facilities for staff and patients.

Substantial mechanical and electrical installation work to support the unit’s three diagnostic scanners was a major feature of the project, including heavy-duty ventilation systems and copper and aluminium lined steel cages for each scanning suite to protect the sensitive equipment.

“We are grateful to Beard for the efficient way they built our high-tech clinic to ensure minimum disruption to our patients.”
